    The British Ambassador opens (The Saudi - British Trade Week) activities in Asharqia Chamber
     
    Continues until Wednesday with a participation of more than 50 British Company
     
    AlRashid: We aim to introduce the development of economic sectors and Saudi human resources.
     
    The increase of non-petrochemical trade by 14% to 3.3 billion pounds in 2009.
     
    The British Ambassador ,Mr. William Patey has opened  on Sunday, March 21, 2010 Saudi –British Trade Week events which runs until next Wednesday in the presence of the Chamber Chairman ,Mr.Abdulrahman bin Rashid Al-Rashid and several members of Board Directors and businessmen in the Chamber main building in Dammam.

    Patty reviewed the relations between the two countries, adding that Saudi Arabia and Britain have enjoyed a strong relation, he said: the growth of the mutual relations is expected over the coming years, adding that the growing cooperation between companies of both countries has resulted in a significant increase in investments in both countries, where Saudi companies and held more than 150 British a joint venture in the two countries to invest over 20 billion dollars, while the Saudi companies working in the United Kingdom and investments reached nearly 60 billion pounds.

    At the level of trade exchange between the two countries, " Batty said that it has increased between Saudi Arabia and Britain despite the global economic crisis, also the  non-petrochemical mutual trade in 2009 rose by more than 14 per cent to 3.3 billion pounds in 2008
    Patty noted to the increasing number of Saudi students are currently studying at British universities and various educational institutions and saying that, "There are more than 20 thousand Saudi students studying in Britain and this number will increase in the coming period and that 25 thousand British citizen living in the Kingdom.
     


    For his part, Abdulrahman Al Rashid, Asharqia Chamber Chairman has welcomed the British Ambassador William Patey and his accompanying delegation, pointing to the goal of setting up the Saudi-British trade week is to enlighten the British companies on the major economic sectors of Saudi Arabia and its development. AlRashid focused on the possibility of cooperation with the British companies in the development of Saudi human resources, especially regarding women training with the training companies of the United Kingdom.
    He reviewed the industrial strength of the Eastern region, stressing that the region is considered as the home of the biggest oil company in the world, Saudi Aramco and most branches of the Company (SABIC) , referring to the new economic city which will be established in the region as part of the plan of the Saudi government to develop at least 6 economic cities in all parts of the country along with the mining city that are being developed in Ras al-Zour in the region.

    After that, Patty and AlRashid has cut the opening ribbon of the exhibition associated which was attended by more than 50 British companies in various disciplines and then the British Ambassador was honored with memorial shield
